Workshop: Designing your Research on Teaching and Learning Project from a Quantitative Perspective: An Introduction

In this introductory workshop, we will discuss how your research on teaching and learning project can be structured, using a quantitative approach, to answer your research question(s). Specifically, using recently published SoTL research to illustrate the designs, we will address the assumptions underlying, and advantages and disadvantages of, descriptive, correlational, quasi-experimental, and experimental research designs and the conclusions you can draw from them. You will also work in small groups to discuss how you can structure your research project design including the data sources and research methods that best address your research on teaching and learning question.
