The default arrangement of Avenue’s course shell prioritizes functionality over usability – but poor usability can introduce unnecessary frustrations for your students and act as a barrier to their learning experience. Luckily, there are numerous ways you can make your course shell easier to navigate and use for both you and your students. In this hands-on workshop, you will learn and apply techniques to improve the usability of your Avenue course.
By the end of the session, you will be able to…
- Apply several usability improvements to your Avenue course
- Perform a usability test on your Avenue course
- List key practices to enhance the accessibility of the Avenue course
Facilitators: Devon Mordell, Educational Developer, MacPherson Institute
Platform: Zoom (details provided upon registration)
Audience: McMaster Community and Affiliates
Requirements: Participants should have access to an Avenue sandbox course shell, as the workshop will be hands-on; if you do not have one, please request at least 2-3 business days in advance of the workshop.
