New Faculty Orientation is a half-day event that offers an opportunity to connect with senior administration on campus to hear of the wider university goals regarding teaching, a venue to connect with experienced faculty, and a space to reflect on your teaching experiences during your first few weeks on campus.
This year’s event will follow a hybrid format and can be attended in person or virtually via zoom.
Event Schedule:
9:00am – Welcome
Hear from members of senior leadership at McMaster University as we discuss the Partnered in Teaching and Learning Strategy
9:30am – Panel
Our panelists of established and new faculty, students, staff and administration, will be discussing their perspectives on teaching and learning
10:45am – Roundtable Discussion
Chat with fellow new faculty about teaching modalities, course refinements, teaching feedback and evaluation, and supports for faculty and students
11:45am – Closing Remarks
Join MacPherson Institute as we wrap up the orientation
12:00pm – Lunch & Resource Fair (In-Person Only)
We invite you to chat with members of the McMaster teaching community over lunch and meet many of the teaching related support and service departments here on campus.
