Scholarly reflective practice in the development of teaching portfolios
Nov 25, 2022
12:30PM to 2:30PM
Date/Time
Date(s) - 25/11/2022
12:30 pm - 2:30 pm
The first part of the workshop, on Nov. 18, will explore and compare the portfolio concept as it is currently implemented in Canada and in Sweden and discuss its potential. For instance, what is an authentic teaching portfolio, which qualities are supposed to be displayed in the teaching portfolio, how to connect the different parts and where does scholarly reflective practice fit in? There will be opportunities to discuss with colleagues from different disciplines and begin working on a reflective text that will be used in the second workshop.
In the second part of the workshop, on Nov. 25, the focus will be on interdisciplinary discussions based on the reflective texts written by the participants. We will elaborate on what constitutes an “excellent teacher” and how to document these qualities. We will also address how the assessment of teaching portfolios could be developed and whether the portfolio is a valid tool for assessment of teaching achievements.
