Spring 2022 Course Registration Opens April 1st for the Teaching and Learning Certificates of Completion Program Courses
The Teaching and Learning Certificates of Completion Program opens April 1st at 8:30 AM for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Students and fellows may earn one, or both, of the following certificates of completion throughout their studies:
Teaching and Learning Foundations Certificate of Completion
(1) EDUCATN 600: Essential Skills in Teaching and Learning (I) [No prerequisites]
- The course is a mix of synchronous and asynchronous online learning. The synchronous sessions for the Spring term are:
- Tuesday, May 10, 2022 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM
- Tuesday, June 14, 2022 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM
- Tuesday, July 26, 2022 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM
(2) EDUCATN 650: Peer-Evaluated Teaching Experience [No prerequisites]
- The course is in-person. The sessions for the Spring term are:
- Monday, May 9th, 2022 9:30 AM – 4:30 PM [Full Class]
- Monday, May 16th, 2022 12:30 – 4:30 PM [Small Group A]
- Wednesday, May 18th, 2022 12:30 – 4:30 PM [Small Group B]
- Wednesday, May 25th, 2022 12:30 – 4:30 PM [Small Group B]
- Monday, May 30th 2022 12:30 – 4:30 PM [Small Group A]
- Wednesday June 1st, 2022 12:30 – 4:30 PM [Small Group B]
- Monday, June 6th, 2022 12:30 – 4:30 PM [Small Group A]
Teaching and Learning Scholar Certificate of Completion
The two Teaching and Learning Foundations Certificate of Completion courses (i.e., EDUCATN 600 and EDUCATN 650), PLUS…
(1) EDUCATN 700: Essential Skills in Teaching and Learning (II)[Prerequisite: EDUCATN 600]
- The course is a mix of synchronous and asynchronous online learning. The synchronous sessions for the Spring term are:
- Thursday, May 12, 2022 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM
- Thursday, June 16, 2022 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM
- Thursday, July 28, 2022 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM
(2) EDUCATN 760: Self-Directed Study [Prerequisites: EDUCATN 600 & EDUCATN 650]
- This course will largely take place asynchronously, with two required synchronous instructor check-ins and optional synchronous class sessions at dates/times decided on by the group.
EDUCATN 750/751 will not be offered during the Spring 2022 term.
Graduate students can register for the courses through Mosaic. Postdoctoral fellows can register for them by emailing Emily Hynes (hynese@mcmaster.ca) and requesting that their name be added to a class list. Registration is first come, first served.
