MacPherson Institute Update
Dear McMaster Community,
In April 2018, an external review of Teaching and Learning at McMaster was initiated, with a focus on the activities of the MacPherson Institute.
External reviewers visited the campus in September and met with stakeholders related to teaching and learning. These reviewers produced a report, available on the Provost’s website, with recommendations to enhance teaching and learning at McMaster.
Work is now underway to plan a response to these recommendations; we will share this plan with the campus community in the coming months. We are eager to address the recommendations and to engage in ongoing dialogue with the campus community throughout this process. We appreciate your continued patience and support, as we anticipate that in many cases a thoughtful and appropriate response will take some time to be fully realized.
One of our urgent next steps in responding to the reviewer recommendations will be to clarify the mission, vision and mandate of the MacPherson Institute. We plan to convene town halls in the first months of the new year to gather your input and guidance in this process.
The staff at the MacPherson Institute, like the staff, faculty and students at McMaster University, share a deep commitment to teaching and learning. We look forward to partnering with you to foster, explore and celebrate positive teaching and learning experiences.
If you have questions, concerns or comments, please connect with us at mi@mcmaster.ca.
Sincerely,
Dr. Lori Goff
Interim Director, The MacPherson Institute
