Participate in our Student Partners Program Equity Stream Pilot
Researchers at McMaster have received funds from SSHRC to pilot and assess an Equity Stream of the MacPherson Institute’s Student Partners Program. This pilot seeks to align with McMaster’s commitment “to build an inclusive community with a shared purpose” (McMaster University, 2002, p. 5), and to contribute to McMaster’s emerging Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Strategy and recent efforts and initiatives to advance Accessible Education.
Over the Fall of 2019, the pilot will match ~5 faculty-student pairs or trios (i.e., groups of 2 students and 1 faculty member) to collaborate on enhancing equity in the faculty member’s classroom/curriculum. Faculty and student partners will work together to identify, assess, address, and evaluate areas of course design and/or delivery that could be revised to further support equity in the classroom. Students will be paid for their time, through the SSHRC grant, via processes in place for the MacPherson Student Partners Program.
Expressions of interest from faculty/instructors who would like to participate should be submitted by June 17, 2019 via this survey link. For more information about the pilot, please see the full call for faculty/instructor participants. If you have questions about the pilot, contact Beth Marquis at beth.marquis@mcmaster.ca.
