Please join us for the 2021 President’s Retreat, which will be held virtually via synchronous sessions from Wednesday, June 2nd to Monday, June 7th. The 2021 President’s Retreat will bring together a dynamic community of McMaster teaching and learning award recipients and senior academic leadership to explore the themes of McMaster’s first-ever Teaching and Learning Strategy. Each session will allow participants to share, learn and consider how they can contribute to advancing the strategic priorities of the Teaching & Learning strategy.
Participants attending the retreat can register for specific sessions and explore any or all of the four teaching and learning priorities. The schedule is as follows:
June 2
Welcome, 2-3 p.m – Featuring addresses and remarks from President David Farrar, Provost Susan Tighe, MSU President Denver Della-Nova, and Vice-Provost Kim Dej
Session 1, 3-4:30 p.m. – Fostering Inclusive and Scholarly Teaching Featuring Bonny Ibhawoh, Krista Madsen, Jonathan Sherbino, and Arig al Shaibah.
June 3
Session 2, 10-11:30 a.m. -Encouraging Partnered and Interdisciplinary Learning Featuring Rita Cossa, Bernice Downey, Dave Heidebrecht, and Cathy Grisé.
Session 3, 1-2:30 p.m. – Supporting a Holistic and Personalized Student Experience Featuring Sean van Koughnett and Sean Beaudette, Felicia Vulcu, and Adrienne Xavier.
June 4
Session 4, 1:30-3 p.m. – Developing Active and Flexible Learning Spaces Featuring Lorraine Carter, Jake Nease, and Robert Fleisig.
June 7
Conclusion and Awards Recognition, 1-2:30 p.m. Featuring Vice-Provost Kim Dej, Provost Susan Tighe, and President David Farrar, with recognition of the 2020 and 2021 President’s Award for Outstanding Contributions to Teaching and Learning.
