Certificate of Attendance in Professional Development for Teaching

Coming soon

The MacPherson Institute has some exciting news to share! In Winter 2026, a new Certificate of Attendance in Professional Development for Teaching will be launched. A Certificate of Attendance is designed for individuals who may want to acquire general knowledge or training for career-related purposes, but who neither require nor seek any form of professional or academic recognition.

Offering flexible pathways for learners to develop their understanding of effective post-secondary teaching, the new Certificate of Attendance in Professional Development for Teaching will be available to all individuals at McMaster with an active MacID (e.g., undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, part-time instructors, faculty, and staff).

Learners will complete five asynchronous online modules from a curated list, allowing them to tailor their professional development to their individual interests and goals. To consolidate and demonstrate their growth, they will also complete one ungraded culminating assessment from a range of options, empowering them to showcase their learning in a format that best supports their career aspirations.

Stay tuned for more details! Be among the first to know when the Certificate of Attendance in Professional Development for Teaching has launched by subscribing to the MacPherson Memo: https://mi.mcmaster.ca/newsletter/
