The default arrangement of Avenue’s course shell prioritizes functionality over usability – but poor usability can introduce unnecessary frustrations for your students and act as a barrier to their learning experience. Luckily, there are numerous ways you can make your course shell easier to navigate and use for both you and your students. In this hands-on workshop, you will learn and apply techniques to improve the usability of your Avenue course.
- Facilitators: Devon Mordell, Educational Developer, MacPherson Institute
- Platform: Zoom (details provided upon registration)
- Audience: McMaster Teaching and Learning Community
- Requirements: Participants should have access to a sandbox or inactive course shell, as practicing some of the techniques discussed may affect the students enrolled in a live course. If you do not currently have a sandbox, you can request one here (please do so at least 2-3 workdays before the workshop).
- Pre-requisite knowledge: Basic experience working with course shells in Avenue to Learn as an Instructor, TA1 or Course Developer.
