As in any scholarly activity, it is important to be learning about what others have done, reflecting on our own practice, and building on existing knowledge. Various opportunities are available to help recognize and celebrate the excellent and innovative educators on our campus.
We invite you to participate in our teaching and learning community at McMaster:
- Nominate an outstanding colleague for a teaching award
- Engage in scholarly investigations and the development or implementation of a project that aims to enhance McMaster students’ educational experience
- Connect with past grant winners and learn about their experiences
- Connect with the MacPherson Institute to prepare your teaching portfolio for a future award or to review evidence of your teaching effectiveness and identify opportunities to enhance your impact on campus
It is important for department administrators to actively encourage and nominate great teachers for their Faculty-level and campus-level awards. Receiving the President’s Award for Outstanding Contributions to Teaching and Learning is an asset to being nominated at the provincial (e.g. OCUFA Teaching Award) and national levels (e.g. 3M National Teaching Fellowship).
Preparing for an award nomination or grant application is a rewarding endeavour that takes time and thought. Please consult an Educational Developer as early in the process as possible.
